Woman Killed In 3-Car Crash On I-80 In Dixon

The woman was in the fast lane when she was rear-ended, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA β€” A West Sacramento woman died in a three-vehicle crash Friday on Interstate Highway 80 in Dixon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision happened at 6:10 p.m. on eastbound I-80, just west of state Highway 113, when the Nissan Kicks the woman was driving was rear-ended by a Jeep Compass, CHP Officer David Harvey said.

Both vehicles were in the fast lane when, per witnesses, traffic slowed and the Jeep collided with the back of the Nissan.

Immediately following that collision, the Nissan hit the back of a Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling ahead of the Nissan in the fast lane, Harvey said.

Although passing motorists stopped and rendered aid to the woman driving the Nissan, she unfortunately was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

The 64-year-old West Sacramento woman was identified as Wanda Fletcher, according to the Solano County Sheriff-Coroner's Office.

A 45-year-old Oakland man was driving the Jeep and was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vacaville for treatment of minor injuries, while a 46-year-old West Sacramento driving the Ford was not injured, according to the CHP.

The collision remains under investigation; neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be factors, Harvey said.
