25-Year-Old Dublin "X Factor" Contestant Diagnosed With Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer
Amber Fisher, also known as Amber Woods, is trying to remain positive and spread awareness after receiving the difficult news.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin resident Amber Fisher thought she was going to the emergency room over New Year’s for extreme acid reflux. Instead, after running several tests, she was told that she had Stage IV pancreatic cancer.
“I was then told that I had pancreatic cancer and that in about 10 minutes I was going to be rolled up to radiology and they were going to biopsy my liver,” Fisher, 25, said in a Facebook reel. “Everything happened so fast that I didn't even have a chance to properly process everything, and as soon as the doctor left the room, I just started crying. Because you're not supposed to hear that you have cancer at 25.”
Fisher, a singer and former contestant on “The X Factor” Malta, is now a few weeks into her new reality, consisting of constant hospital visits, scans, and life-altering medical decisions. Following the cancer diagnosis, Fisher underwent genetic testing and learned that she has Lynch syndrome, a hereditary condition that significantly influences cancer risk. She encourages everyone to know their family medical history, because if she’d been aware of the condition, she would have tested regularly and likely would have caught the cancer in an earlier stage.

Despite the devastating news and the difficult journey ahead, Fisher is trying to remain positive and continue living her life.
“I'm sitting with this reality, trying to stay positive, because I think remaining positive with a stage 4 diagnosis is extremely important, and I can't let it rob me of my life or stop me,” she said. “I’m going to keep fighting this. I'm going to keep spreading awareness. I'm going to keep telling people to advocate for their health. You really have to because nobody knows your body better than you do or what you're feeling.” Recently, she was invited to speak at two upcoming Pancreatic Cancer Action Network events.

“From day one, my heart has been set on raising awareness and helping others feel less alone,” she wrote.
“Amber is a daughter, sister, and friend who brings warmth and light wherever she goes. She has always been the one who shows up for others, the first to help, the first to listen, the first to make someone feel less alone. Now, for the first time, she is the one who needs her community to show up for her,” reads a GoFundMe page aiming to raise funds for the many expensive treatments her care will require. As of Friday, the campaign has raised $48,692 out of an $80,000 goal.
“This fundraiser is to support Amber as she undergoes treatment and focuses on what matters most: healing, hope, and time. Every contribution no matter the size helps ease the burden of medical expenses and daily costs, and most importantly, reminds Amber that she is not facing this alone,” they wrote.
