3 Boulevard School Name Finalists Revealed

The TK-8 Naming Committee selected three final choices for the name of the future TK-8 school in the Boulevard neighborhood.

DUBLIN, CA — The TK-8 Naming Committee selected three finalists for the name of the new school coming to the Boulevard area. The 17-member community board selected three possible names out of 631 total submissions:

  • Shamrock Hills
  • Hacienda Meadows
  • Martin Canyon

The committee will present these names to the DUSD Board of Trustees at their Tuesday meeting. After that, two public hearings will be held before the board makes a final decision in November.

Board policy requires names of schools to either recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Dublin or the broader community; depict areas of curricular concentration or educational philosophy; or recognize a geographic area where the school is located.

The board packet presents information on how each of the selected names fulfills any or all of those criteria:

  • Shamrock Hills: “Combination of "Shamrock," a symbol of the city of Dublin, and "Hills," referring to the hills surrounding Dublin. This name reflects both geographical and cultural aspects of our city.”
  • Hacienda Meadows: “A ‘Hacienda’ is a Spanish estate. In Dublin, there were many haciendas owned by various Spanish settlers and landowners. The word “Meadows” is mostly symbolic (next slide) but also refers to open grassy areas in Dublin.”
  • Martin Canyon: “The school will be situated in the middle of Dublin, with Martin Canyon Creek located just 3 miles away, making it a notable geographic feature in the area.”
