Active-Shooter Training Planned At 2 Dublin Schools

The operations will be a joint effort involving the FBI, Dublin police and Alameda County firefighters.

DUBLIN, CA – The Dublin Police and Alameda County Fire departments, along with the FBI, will conduct joint, "active shooter/rescue task force" trainings at two schools in Dublin.

From July 24-26, the police and fire operation will be in a building on the Dublin High School campus at 8151 Village Parkway, and on Aug. 6-10 the FBI and other law enforcement agencies will conduct an active-shooter response, "train the trainer" event in a building at Wells Middle School at 6800 Penn Drive, according to school officials.

"These collaborative training operations are a critical element in improving the ability of the two agencies to work together with utmost efficiency in a challenging, complex environment - ultimately improving their ability to save lives, not only on Dublin school campuses but also at business and residential complexes across the city," the Dublin Unified School District said, adding that approximately 100 police and fire personnel will participate in the exercises.

The operation at Wells will involve the FBI and other law enforcement agencies and is designed to benefit public-safety agencies across the country, officials said.

During the training exercises, the school sites will limit access to DUSD staff, families and community members.

"While there may be some inconvenience associated with these activities, we're sure you will agree the benefits of supporting these training events outweigh any disruption," the district said. "We appreciate your support and patience."
