Amador Karaoke: Make Everyone at Your Party Feel Like a Star

Looking to throw a party in your own private karaoke bar? Look no further than . The venue's eight rooms are fully equipped with state-of-the-art karaoke equipment and can be rented out hourly for a birthday party, company party, bachelor party or even just a fun weekend night.

Husband and wife Olaf and Sammi Brown opened Amador Karaoke in March 2009. Sammi, who is Korean, said private karaoke studios are very common in Asia, so she said she knew the business would be well liked by members of Dublin's large Asian community. And unlike karaoke bars, Amador Karaoke is a family-friendly venue where the focus is on the singing, not the drinking.

"In this area, you can only find karaoke in bars," Olaf Brown said. "But this is for families. People go to bars to drink, but they'll come here to sing and maybe have a drink. And there are a lot of Asian families in this area, so it's a good fit."

Song choices at Amador Karaoke are vast – thousands of songs in about 12 languages, including 20,000 English songs and 20,000 Chinese songs, and the Browns update their collection to reflect current music. Each room is furnished with comfortable chairs and couches to make guests feel at home and includes a disco ball and musical toys such as tambourines and maracas.

The Browns say they see an even mix of kids and adults. It's a popular spot for a kid's birthday party, but they've also hosted bachelor and bachelorette parties, family holiday parties and company events. Newlyweds even came in while on their honeymoon. The venue's "Wall of Fame" – a wall covered with party photos  – illustrates how much fun guests have had at Amador Karaoke.

"Some people will go out to eat and then roll in here for a little singing," Brown said. "Sometimes it's hard to get them out of here!"

Appointments are recommended for larger groups, but Amador Karaoke accommodates walk-ins. Hours are 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily, but parties can be held at any time by appointment. Customers are permitted to bring in food and décor. Beverages, including soda and beer, are available for purchase at the front desk.

Hourly rates are $20 per hour for a room that holds two to three people, $25 per hour for a room that holds five, $40 per hour for a room that holds eight, $50 per hour for a room that holds 10, $70 per hour for a room that holds 15 and $80 per hour for a room that holds 20-25.

 Brown says he may expand when his current space can no longer accommodate his clientele, but for now, he and Sammi plan to continue building their business.

"If you're looking for an unusual theme for your party, this is the place to go," he said.
