DUBLIN, CA — A burning vehicle resulted in a structural fire and small grass fire in Dublin on July 4, according to the Alameda County Fire Department. The fires were one of several that broke out that night, ACFD said.

At around 10:43 p.m., ACFD firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle fire on the 1100 block of Rolling Hills Drive. Firefighters found a vehicle burning inside the home’s garage, and the fire extended into the residence. Embers from the fire ignited a small grass fire behind the home estimated at 0.1 acre.

Crews quickly contained both fires. They do not believe the incident was related to fireworks. However, ACFD reported four outside fires resulting from improperly disposed of spent fireworks. This includes one fire that damaged the exterior of a home.

ACFD also reported dumpster fires in parks designated for safe and sane fireworks explosions.

Patch reached out to ACFD for further information.

The department said it responded to 33 potential fireworks-related incidents across the county on July 4, including two vegetation fires in unincorporated Alameda County. San Leandro reported 15 incidents, which included eight outside fires, five vegetation fires, one dumpster fire, and one smoke investigation.
