DUBLIN, CA — Filing is now open for a number of seats in Dublin, including the City Council and Dublin Unified School Board.
The nomination period opens Monday and closes Friday, Aug. 7. For any seat where the incumbent hasn’t filed, the deadline extends to Wednesday, Aug. 12. Three seats are available: the mayor, city council member for District 2, and city council member for District 4.

Anyone running must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter, and a resident of Dublin, and in the case of prospective council members, the relevant district.
So far, Mayor Sherry Hu has announced that she will run for re-election, and District 1 Councilmember Michael McCorriston has announced that he will challenge her for mayor.
Anyone interested in filing can set up an in-person appointment with the city clerk to process nomination papers. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last appointment starting at 4:30 p.m. At least 24 hours’ notice is preferred. Seats are also open for the Trustee Area 2, 3, and 5 seats of the Dublin Unified School District Governing Board, seats currently occupied by Kristin Speck, Carolina Martinez, and Dan Cherrier, respectively. As of Monday, no candidates have publicly announced their plans to run.
Anyone interested in running can file with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, and attend a candidates’ information night on Wednesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. at the DUSD Board at 7471 Larkdale Avenue. For additional information, contact DUSD at 925-828-2551, ext. 8002. No reservation is required.
