Aussie-Based F45 Opens First Tri-Valley Location In Dublin

DUBLIN, CA — A new fitness training center is opening in Dublin, the first of its kind in the Tri-Valley. F45 Training, located at 7544 Dublin Blvd., is celebrating its grand opening Saturday with a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting.

"The 'F' is for functional training. The '45' represents the length of a workout. The goal: to change your life," according to the Australian company's motto. F45 touts its workouts as "one of the most time-efficient ways of training. We aim to burn up to 750 calories per 45-minute session."

The Dublin opening marks F45's first foray into the Tri-Valley. Operated as franchises, F45 has more than 1,300 studios in 33 countries — with nearly half in Australia. The company's founder and CEO Rob Deutsch launched the first F45 gym in 2012.

Deutsch has been quoted as saying F45 is a “cult-like environment,” which makes clients want to come back because they feel part of a community. F45 studios are not really designed for DIY workouts. Instead, they feature a few pieces of fitness equipment; trainers lead clients through the intense 45-minute sessions.

The Dublin facility will offer 31 different 45-minute workout programs.

In March, Hollywood actor and Funky Bunch frontman Mark Wahlberg bought a stake in F45 after contacting the company's founder and CEO Rob Deutsch.

The always-fit Wahlberg "fell in love with the concept" after taking his first class in November 2018, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

"I think what they are doing is amazing," Wahlberg said. "If we can continue to help it and grow it and to figure out ways to get people to partake in the F45 fitness experience, that's going to be amazing."
