Bites Nearby: The Bridges Golf Club Restaurant in San Ramon

One word explains why the Bridges Golf Club Restaurant stands alone: atmosphere. It is just gorgeous. There is nothing better than looking out over the lush green grass and feeling, just for an hour or so, that you are some place far more glamorous than the Tri-Valley. No offense. We even witnessed a hawk soaring over the golf course while we dined.

On a recent visit I chose a Monterey chicken wrap that came filled with grilled chicken, pepper jack cheese, bits of bacon, spicy guacamole, lettuce and ranch dressing. I chose mine with french fries, which came with ketchup in a little dish for dipping. Love missing that extra — and potentially messy — step of pouring your own ketchup. This dish included cole slaw and cost $9.75. 

My companion had the Dungeness crab melt — two English muffin halves covered with lots of crab meat and topped with tomato, avocado and melted dill Havarti cheese. Delicious, for $13.25.

The lunch menu isn't extensive but includes a couple of entrees (sauteed Asian basa and chicken stroganoff fettuccine), soups, sandwiches, wraps and burgers as well as some pretty tasty sounding salads. Sitting on the patio while enjoying a refreshing Sonoma chicken and cranberry salad or perhaps a pear and prawn salad sounds amazing.

The Bridges Golf Club Restaurant serves bunch all day on weekends. The menu includes many weekday lunch items plus breakfast favorites such as omelets, pancakes and french toast. Entrees run from $7.50 to $13.95.

The restaurant's full bar is open everyday from 11 a.m. to closing. The restaurant will serve brunch on Easter and Mother's Day.
