Most training programs run on guesswork. Custom Fit replaces it with measurement. At its San Francisco studios, Personal Training and Partner Training memberships include unlimited DEXA body-composition scans and VO2 max testing — diagnostics usually sold one scan at a time or reserved for specialized clinics. Custom Fit members can test as often as they train. The reasoning is straightforward. A DEXA scan measures fat, lean muscle, and bone density with clinical precision. A VO2 max test measures the body's maximum oxygen uptake, one of the strongest predictors of cardiovascular fitness and long-term health. Run those tests on a regular cadence and a member can see exactly what is changing, where, and whether a program is working — rather than relying on the scale or the mirror. That is the idea behind Custom Fit's positioning: not a gym, a performance lab. Every program is built from a member's measured body composition and cardiovascular capacity, then adjusted as the data moves. The goal is to eliminate the guesswork that defines most fitness routines and to treat training as something you can verify. The model also brings longevity diagnostics that usually live in concierge medicine into a routine training week. Body composition and cardiovascular capacity are central markers of how well a person is aging, and regular testing keeps those numbers visible rather than treating them as an occasional, expensive add-on. Employers are telling us what the next decade of work will require, and it isn't more screen time or another coding class.
In the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025, more than half of employers named durable human skills, including creative thinking, resilience, self-awareness, empathy, and curiosity, among the core skills their workforce needs. CASEL, a leading authority on social and emotional learning, echoes this in its annual State of the Field address: alongside math, reading, and science, these human skills are what let a person grow, adapt, and thrive no matter how the economy or job market shifts.
Here's the part most parents never hear. Those workplace skills aren't a separate checklist to train. Each one grows out of a deeper set of social-emotional competencies: knowing your own emotions, managing them under pressure, and reading the emotions of others. Resilience and flexibility grow from a child learning to manage emotion. Empathy and collaboration grow from learning to read others. Creativity and sound judgment grow from self-awareness. Build that foundation, and the workplace skills follow. Skip it, and no amount of tutoring or enrichment fills the gap.
And that foundation is built through relationships, which is where you come in.
Teachers, coaches, and mentors all contribute to a child's social-emotional growth. But the most important relationship is the one at home. A child's bond with a parent is the template for every relationship that follows, and it is where they first learn whether emotions can be named, whether stress can be soothed, and whether the world is safe enough to stay curious in. Psychologists call that bond attachment, and it is the soil these durable skills grow in. No teacher or program can replace it, and no adult has more influence over it than you, at every age including the teen years.
This workshop shows you how it works and what to do about it: which skills the future demands, why they matter more as AI reshapes work, how secure attachment builds them from the inside out, and what you can start doing today.

A Summer Workshop for College-Bound Students
As many families prepare to send students off to college this fall, SOS4Students is offering a resource for rising freshmen.
Many students arrive on campus academically capable but unprepared for managing their time, keeping up with assignments, communicating with professors, and navigating a much less structured environment.
Conquering College 101 helps students build the executive functioning, study, and life skills needed to thrive academically, socially, and independently during their first year.
Students learn practical strategies for:
<ul><li>Managing schedules and deadlines</li><li>Studying efficiently and preparing for exams</li><li>Taking effective notes and reading actively</li><li>Self-advocacy and communicating with professors</li><li>Building routines that support long-term success</li></ul>
A bonus parent session with Beth Samuelson is included and focuses on supporting your student's transition while fostering independence.Sunday, July 26 through Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm each evening.

Middle school is an exciting milestone, but it’s also one of the biggest transitions students experience. Suddenly, they’re expected to manage multiple teachers, keep track of assignments across classes, stay organized, plan ahead, and take on more independence.
The challenge is that many students don’t realize they’re missing these skills until they’re already feeling overwhelmed. At SOS4Students, we’ve worked with countless middle school students who came to us after struggling with these new expectations. We saw the same patterns again and again, which is why we created Mastering Middle School.
This summer workshop helps rising middle schoolers build the executive functioning skills they’ll need before the school year begins. During the intensive session on August 1–2 at Orinda Academy, students will learn practical strategies for:
• Organization and managing materials • Time management and task management • Homework routines and study strategies • Effective note-taking • Self-advocacy and communicating with teachers • Navigating the increased independence of middle school
Students will also have the opportunity to return for a follow-up session on September 12 to reinforce skills and prepare for a successful transition into the school year.
