Know Their Gap Challenge

Over the last couple of years as an educator, I have noticed a big disconnect between what parents think is happening and what kids are actually experiencing in math.

Many parents put everything into the “focus issue” bucket.

Kids often say, “I just made a silly mistake.”

But many times, the real issue is not focus and not silliness. It is a repeated mistake pattern — rushing, skipping steps, weak basics, fraction confusion, word problem breakdowns, or sign errors.

That is why we created the Know Their Gap Challenge at GrowWise School.

This is not a test.
We are not grading your child.

It is a simple parent-child discovery activity:

1. Parents first guess their child’s most common math mistake pattern.
2. Kids complete a short Pattern Finder activity online or in person.
3. We compare the parent prediction with the child’s actual pattern.
4. Families get a clearer picture of what may really be blocking progress.

The goal is simple: before looking for more tutoring or more worksheets, let’s first find the actual pattern.
