City of Dublin Appoints New Parks And Community Services Director
La Shawn Butler will begin her appointment on Jul. 16 as Director Parks & Community Services.

From The City of Dublin: Dublin City Manager Chris Foss announced today the appointment of La Shawn Butler as the City’s next Parks and Community Services Director. She will officially begin on July 16 and will be introduced to the City Council on July 17, 2018.
Mrs. Butler has more than 20 years’ experience in parks and recreation with the last nine years as the Community Services Director for the City of Glendora in southern California. In her current role, Mrs. Butler has oversight of parks and recreation as well as human services and certain transportation programs. She also directed, led and managed several capital improvement projects, including playground construction and replacement, as well as renovations to nine parks and the creation of a dog park. Prior to joining Glendora, Mrs. Butler worked for the cities of Riverside and Moreno Valley, holding a variety of roles in recreation.
“I am pleased to welcome La Shawn Butler as the new Parks and Community Services Director for the City of Dublin. We are very happy that we were able to recruit someone with La Shawn’s extensive experience and background,” said City Manager Chris Foss. “La Shawn will be tasked with a multitude of community priorities and will ensure that we can continue to deliver quality recreational programming and services to Dublin residents.” Mrs. Butler is joining the City as it embarks on building the 30-acre Don Biddle Community Park as part of the Boulevard project and several other capital projects over the next five years, including the next phase of Fallon Sports Park and other community facility improvements. Additionally, Mrs. Butler will oversee updates to the City’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan, Public Art Master Plan, as well as review and update City recreational programming to meet the needs of the community. Mrs. Butler received her Masters in Education from Hope International University and her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science from California Baptist University in Riverside.

Mrs. Butler said, “I am thrilled to join the City of Dublin as Director of Parks and Community Services, and I look forward to working with the community to provide the highest level of parks programming and recreational services.”
