Dublin 7-Eleven Robbery Suspect Nabbed

Police said the man took cash and lottery tickets during the robbery. He is suspected in a rash of robberies in San Ramon and the Bay Area.

DUBLIN, CA — A Concord man suspected of robbing a Dublin 7-Eleven story this week has been arrested. Police said the suspect, later identified as 27-year-old John Wainscott, entered the convenience store located at 11920 Dublin Green Drive at about 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Wainscott allegedly made the clerk think he was armed with a handgun and demanded cash. Police said Wainscott took an undisclosed amount of cash and lottery tickets fled the area in a silver Pontiac. Officers were not able to locate Wainscott or the car.

Using store surveillance photos, investigators identified Wainscott as the suspect. The next day, he was arrested at his home. Police said officer discovered evidence linking him to the robbery during a search of his home. Investigators said Wainscott is also a suspect in a rash of other robberies in San Ramon and throughout the Bay Area.
