Dublin Boulevard Shutdowns Planned For Iron Horse Trail Bridge Work
Closures are planned in October and November as workers complete the $14 million bridge overcross designed for pedestrians and bicyclists.
DUBLIN, CA — A full closure of Dublin Boulevard is set for Oct. 21-22 and Nov. 4-5 due to the installation of the Iron Horse Trail bridge overcrossing, according to Dublin city officials.
The roadway, from Dougherty Road to Hacienda Drive, will be shut to vehicles and pedestrians beginning Saturday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. through 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, followed by another closure Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, as workers pour the concrete walkway on the bridge, staff said.
Detour signs will direct traffic south to Pleasanton, with motorists and pedestrians allowed access up to Scarlett Drive and Sterling Street.

The $14 million bridge installation was previously scheduled in early September, but was called off by the contractor, due to complications with the final assembly of the bridge, officials said. The final stage of the project requires lifting and putting the prefabricated bridge into place.
The new, arch truss bridge will be approximately 230 feet over Dublin Boulevard, providing a crossing for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling the Iron Horse Regional Trail.

Funding for the project comes from Alameda County Measure BB, BART Measure RR and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Transportation Fund for Clean Air.
First established in 1986 and maintained by the East Bay Regional Park District, the Iron Horse Regional Trail is a major regional trail for pedestrians and cyclists through central Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, generally following a former Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way that was abandoned in 1977.
The Trail currently passes through Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek, Concord and unincorporated areas of the Counties of Contra Costa and Alameda.
The Trail also connects to the Dublin/Pleasanton and Pleasant Hill BART stations.
Construction plans and the upcoming closures are subject to change, pending unforeseen circumstances, the city said. Follow this link for the schedule and possible updates.
