Dublin Breaks Ground On Imagine Playground At Sports Park
The new all-abilities playground at Dublin Sports Grounds is part of a $4 million rehabilitation project at the park.

DUBLIN, CA — The City of Dublin held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for its new all-abilities playground at the Dublin Sports Grounds, 6700 Dublin Blvd.
The approximately $4 million facility rehabilitation project includes the design and construction of an all-abilities playground, an all-inclusive picnic area, upgraded landscape, parking facilities, and pathways to improve accessibility and connectivity to other park features, including the sports fields and a new ADA-compliant restroom facility.
Additionally, a public art piece — “Conversations” by Barbara Grygutis — will be installed near the playground.

The city conducted community outreach to gauge public interest in the playground. Key stakeholders were interviewed as part of the process, including educators and therapists working with special needs children. The community also participated in the playground-naming process. The future playground will be called "The Imagine Playground at Dublin Sports Grounds."
The playground and associated artwork were approved by the city council at its February 19, 2019 meeting.
