The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD) will be signing an agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) San Francisco Regional Office to formally recognize the district and other institutions of higher education as collaborative partners with the federal agency.

The OSHA Training Institute Education Centers (OTIEC) in federal Region 9 will virtually sign the Alliance Agreement on Thursday, October 21, from 2-3 p.m. The OTI Education Centers included in the agreement are CLPCCD, Arizona State University, California State University Dominguez Hills and University of California San Diego.

CLPCCD has been authorized as an OTIEC since 2008 and provides occupational safety and health training in construction, maritime, disaster site and general industries throughout California, Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada and Guam on behalf of OSHA. Instructors in the program are industry safety professionals who deliver the most up-to-date agency information and incorporate real-world experiences into classroom instruction via hands-on learning exercises.

CLPCCD Assistant Director of OSHA Programs Cari Elofson-Callahan said the partnership has been in the works for years.

“The OTI Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is excited to formalize our already close working relationships through this Alliance,” Elofson-Callahan said. “We look forward to expanding OSHA outreach, education and training, and assistance programs throughout our communities and the workforce.”

OSHA’s Alliance Program enables the agency to develop voluntary, collaborative working relationships with organizations committed to workplace safety and health. Through the Alliance Program, OSHA works with organizations to share information about the agency’s initiatives, compliance assistance resources and educate workers and employers about their rights and responsibilities.
