Dublin 2023 Citizen Of The Year Winners Announced
Several people and organizations were honored for their superior work on behalf of the Dublin community.

DUBLIN, CA — The City of Dublin announced the winners of its Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Organization of the Year, and Mayor’s awards.
Winners were announced during the 2023 Volunteer Recognition Awards Wednesday, and will be recognized during the March 5 City Council meeting. The Organization of the Year will receive a $500 cash prize, and $300 will be given to the Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year’s favorite nonprofit organization. The finalists in the other categories will be awarded $200 for their favorite nonprofit organizations.

2023 Citizen of the Year: Michael and Tammy Goldstein
Michael and Tammy Goldstein are both members of the Dublin Lions Club who cheerfully contribute to many city functions, including Breakfast with Santa, Family Campouts, the Dublin Summer Concert series, and much more. As president of the Lions Club, Michael leads organization for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

2023 Organization of the Year: Dublin Partners in Education (DPIE)
Dublin Partners in Education raises money to support a variety of programming and staffing for Dublin schools. In 2023, they donated a total of $160,000 to DUSD, $100,000 of which went to closing the opportunity gap for disadvantaged students. They also donated an additional $50,000 in programming and scholarships.
2023 Young Citizen of the Year: Troy Matheny
Dublin High School senior Troy Matheny is a Dublin High School senior who has been active in promoting disability awareness as president of the Best Buddies club. He has set up a number of inclusion nights to highlight the club through football and basketball games. He is also ASB Vice President, co-captain of the Varsity Football Team, and maintains a 4.0 GPA.
Mayor Melissa Hernandez presented the Mayor’s Award to three people and organizations she feels have worked tirelessly on behalf of the Dublin community in the past year:
- Captain Miguel Campos, Dublin Police Services
- Lt. Misty Carausu, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office
- Dublin Police Services Investigative Unit
Hernandez also presented the Mayor’s Legacy Award to Margaret Liang for continual work on behalf of the community.
