President Trump has declared May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day to honor fallen law enforcement officers. In response, all flags at City of Dublin facilities are flying at half-staff. On October 1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a bill into law to designate May 15 as a day to annually honor fallen law enforcement officers.

Today, in the United States, more than 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for the safety and protection of others. That protection comes at a price, however. Sadly, in 2019, 135 peace officers were killed in the line of duty.

The City of Dublin would like to thank those peace officers who dedicate their lives to serving others and keeping our collective communities safe. We especially remember our own Deputy John Monego, who was killed in the line of duty on December 12, 1998.
