Dublin Library Extends Hours on Thursdays
Extended hours to benefit Dublin’s community

Dublin, Calif., (August 22, 2016) — The Dublin Library is pleased to announce new, expanded hours of service on Thursdays to meet the growing needs of Dublin’s community. Beginning on September 1, 2016, the Library will add Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., to its operating schedule. Funding provided by the City of Dublin enables the Library to remain open for two additional hours.

“We are thrilled that we can extend hours. Providing library service in the evening benefits children, families, working parents, working adults, and students of all ages,” said Lee Jouthas, Branch Manager.

The Dublin Library, a branch of the Alameda County Library system, is open more hours than any other branch. With new expanded service on Thursdays, it will be the only branch that is open four nights a week. The Library will be exploring new programs to offer during those hours.

Lee Jouthas, Branch Manager commented, “We are so grateful to the City of Dublin for making this funding commitment to library services and for their continued support.” The City of Dublin is also funding construction improvements at the Dublin Library in partnership with the Alameda County Library. The construction is taking place now through late-fall 2016 to create a unique multi-function space. Once complete, the newly renovated space will become a multipurpose learning center where the Library can offer digital storytime, gaming, coding classes, music and movement, arts programs, and classes for all ages.

In the coming weeks, the Library will offer an afterschool program that provides elementary school students with homework assistance. Beginning on September 12, 2016, students in grades K-8 can get help with homework by high school age volunteers. The Library invites the public to stop by and explore all its programs and services.
