Residents may experience rolling blackouts tonight, 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.

August 15, 2020

Due to the extreme heat and added pressure on its power grids, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) has announced that residents may experience rolling blackouts tonight, 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., and periodically through Wednesday. Outages would be one to two hours in length. Residents are encouraged to conserve energy.

PG&E has offered the following tips to conserve energy:

  • Raise the thermostat to 78 degrees.
  • Use a ceiling fan to cool off.
  • Cover windows to help cool your home.
  • Avoid using the oven.
  • Limit the opening of refrigerators.

Rolling blackouts are not Public Safety Power Shutoffs, which occur during high fire threat conditions. PG&E does not expect residents to lose power overnight.
