Dublin Police Receive $81K Grant For Traffic Safety
Police say they plan to use the grant for additional enforcement and community education programs to reduce injuries and accidents.
DUBLIN, CA — Dublin Police Services received an $81,000 grant to increase traffic patrols throughout the community, the department announced in a news release.
The grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will step up enforcement and provide other traffic safety programs to reduce injuries and deaths on the road.
The grant will provide additional resources for a number of initiatives, including:

- DUI checkpoints.
- Distracted driving enforcement operations.
- Enforcement operations based on the most dangerous driver behaviors that could affect pedestrians or cyclists.
- Enforcements for speeding, failure to yield, stop signage, red-light running, and improper turning or lane changes.
- Community presentations on distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding, and pedestrian and cyclist safety.
- Collaborative enforcement with neighboring agencies.
- Officer training and/or recertification on Standard Field Sobriety Test, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, and Drug Recognition Expert.
The grant program will run through September 2024.
“This grant funding allows us to support our ongoing traffic safety efforts and goals of reducing serious injury and fatal crashes in our community,” said Captain Gurvinder Gosal of Dublin Police Services. “We will provide directed targeted enforcement efforts and educational opportunities to those drivers who jeopardize the safety of other people on the road.”
