Dublin Police Recover Stolen DHS Tractor Worth $54K

Dublin detectives conducted a sting operation to locate a tractor stolen from Dublin High School that was advertised on Craigslist.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin police helped recover a stolen lawn mower from Dublin High School worth approximately $54,000, according to a news release. 45-year-old Dublin resident Damon Cisneros has been arrested in connection with the theft.

On Thursday, Feb. 16, Dublin police school resource officers took a report of a stolen John Deer riding lawn mower. Shortly after, SRO’s found the lawn mower listed on Craigslist and notified detectives. Video surveillance footage showed a truck towing the mower out of the DHS parking lot in the early morning hours of Feb. 11.

Dublin detectives contacted the suspect on Craigslist, pretending to be interested in purchasing it. Detectives also found an ad on Offer Up advertising the vehicle. In the Offer Up ad, detectives recognized a vehicle for sale that had been associated with a previous arrest. They were then able to positively identify the suspect as Damon Cisneros.

On Feb. 17, detectives followed Cisneros to Livermore. They located the stolen lawn mower, which was loaded on a trailer that was reported stolen out of Hayward.

Cisneros was arrested for grand theft, and the stolen tractor was returned to Dublin High School.
