Dublin School Board Identifies Finalist for Superintendent
The finalist will replace retiring superintendent Dr. Stephen Hanke.
DUBLIN, CA: The Dublin Unified Board of Trustees has identified Dr. Leslie Boozer as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools to replace retiring superintendent Dr. Stephen Hanke, after ten years of exemplary service.
Dr. Boozer has served as the Superintendent of the Fontana Unified School District since November 2013, where she led the district to a significant increase in graduation rates, A-G completion rates and student achievement. In addition, she has overseen the construction and the instructional planning for a Pre-International Baccalaureate/Dual Immersion elementary magnet school, which will open August 2016.
The Board of Trustees will conduct a site validation visit at Fontana Unified this week as the next step in the selection process, which will culminate with the official approval of a new Superintendent at the Board of Trustees meeting on June 14.

“We are excited to take the next step in this important process,” said DUSD Board President Dan Cunningham. “We look forward to our visit and gathering more of the information we need to bring new leadership into our district.”
Prior to leading Fontana, Dr. Boozer served the students and families of the Chicago Public Schools, first as the Chief of Staff to the Education Team then as Chief of the North-Northwest Side High School Network. In this position, she supervised several of the top schools in Chicago and the state of Illinois, including the number one school in the state at the time, Northside College Prep High School. She has also served as the Chief of Human Capital Initiatives in the Rochester (NY) City School District.

The identification of Dr. Boozer as a finalist is an important step in an extensive process that has spanned nearly four months beginning with the appointment of the search firm Leadership Associates on March 9th. During the month of March, the search firm conducted several hearings and focus groups, which included opportunities. for the community to participate in a survey on the desirable characteristics of the next superintendent.

Dr. Boozer began her professional career as a business litigation attorney in Ohio. She transitioned to education and began her teaching career as a high school teacher in South Los Angeles. Dr. Boozer was then accepted to the prestigious Urban Superintendents Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, wherein she earned a Master’s degree in Education and a Doctorate of Education.
