Dublin Schools to Celebrate "Walk and Roll to School Week"

The Dublin City Council recently proclaimed October 2-6 as "Walk and Roll to School Week" in the City of Dublin.

From the City of Dublin: The Dublin City Council recently proclaimed October 2-6 as "Walk and Roll to School Week" in the City of Dublin. All public elementary and middle schools will be participating in this year's International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 4.

The Dublin Unified School District, with support from the City of Dublin, Dublin Police Services, and Safe Routes to School Alameda County, will be joining schools from all over the world to celebrate International Walk to School Week. City Staff will visit several Dublin schools on October 4 to cheer on the participating students and pass out treats and giveaways.

The goal of Walk and Roll to School events is to encourage walking, bicycling, and taking public transportation to school as a means of increasing physical activity among children; reducing air pollution and traffic congestion; and making the streets safer near schools. Students and parents should check with administrators at their school sites for more information on specific events planned for their Walk and Roll to School Day celebration.
