DUBLIN, CA — It’s been a tough week in Dublin. That makes it the perfect time to kick back and enjoy the city’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration, a world-famous celebration of all things Irish.

Here’s what to know as we head into a weekend of carnivals, races, parades, and bagpipes.

Main Events

  • Shamrock Gala: Friday at 6 p.m., Shannon Community Center. Kick off the festivities with the Dublin City Council and representatives from Bray, Ireland.
  • Firefighters Pancake Breakfast: Saturday from 7-10 a.m., Dublin Fire Station #16, 7494 Donohue Drive. Enjoy pancakes, sausages, and breakfast served by Alameda County firefighters. Funds support charitable efforts from ACFD Local 55.
  • 42nd St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. The Dublin Rotary Club parade will start at Dublin Boulevard and Amador Plaza Road, travel east on Dublin Boulevard, north on Village Parkway, west on Amador Valley Boulevard, and end near the Dublin Senior Center.
  • Shamrock 5K Fun Run & Walk: Whether you want to walk, run, or race, there’s something for everyone. Click on the link for race and packet pick-up details.

Attractions

  • Three stages of Irish music and dance. Enjoy everything from traditional Irish folk music to Celtic rock to bagpipes performing throughout the weekend. Click on the link for the schedule.
  • Carnival. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. A single-day unlimited ride wristband cost $38 per person, and $48 for the full weekend.
  • Over 250 vendor stalls. The Irish Marketplace features Celtic artwork, Irish tartans, hand knit wool sweaters, shawls, beautiful Celtic jewelry, and more. Other vendors include arts and crafts booths, commercial vendors, nonprofit groups, and sponsors.
  • International Food Court: Travel to Ireland through corned Irish delicacies like corned beef sliders, bangers and mash, fish and chips, and Guinness-marinated trip tip on Irish soda bread. Travel around the rest of the world with traditional favorites like kettle corn and corn dogs, and international choices like teriyaki chicken and beef kabobs.
  • Irish Tea Cottage: Irish music served with Irish tea, shortbread, and scones.

Parking is offered at the following locations:

  • Crossroads Office Center – 6375-6377 Clark Ave.
  • DSRSD – 7051 Dublin Blvd.
  • 6400 Sierra Ct. (front lot only)
  • Ewing Irrigation – 6640 Sierra Ln.
  • James Allyn Printing - 6575 Trinity Ct.
  • Zeiss Meditec – 5300 Central Pkwy. (Shuttle Stop)

Road Closures

Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (approximate)

  • Amador Plaza Road in both directions between Dublin Boulevard and Amador Valley Boulevard
  • Westbound Dublin Boulevard from Village Parkway to Amador Plaza Road
  • Eastbound Amador Valley Boulevard from Starward Drive to Village Parkway
  • Southbound Village Parkway from Amador Valley Boulevard to Dublin Boulevard

Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. (approximate)

  • Westbound Dublin Boulevard between Sierra Court and Village Parkway
  • Northbound Village Parkway, from Dublin Boulevard to Amador Valley Boulevard
  • Eastbound Amador Valley Boulevard from Village Parkway to York Drive
  • Southbound side of York Drive and northbound side of Penn Drive
  • Eastbound Amador Valley Boulevard to the Alamo Canal Trail
