Dublin Students Wear Red To Honor Teens Killed In Christmas Crash
The public is invited Tuesday to wear red, the boys' favorite color, Dublin Unified School District said Monday.

DUBLIN, CA — In honor of Javier Ramirez and twins Mark Urista and Michael Urista — the three 16-year-old Dublin High School students killed in a Christmas night crash — students will wear red, the boys' favorite color, on Tuesday.
The Dublin Unified School District publicly announced the plan on its Facebook page on Monday, and tagged the post "#longlivemmj," an apparent reference to the boys' first initials.
The effort originated with a Dublin High parent group and was soon echoed throughout the campus community, said district spokesman Chip Dehnert in an email.

The deadly crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. Christmas Day on Foothill Road just north of Castlewood Drive in Pleasanton. When California Highway Patrol officers arrived, they found three people in the vehicle; two had been ejected. The driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other teen passengers were taken to a hospital with major injuries, according to CHP Officer Tyler Hahn.
CHP investigators believe the car was heading south on Foothill Road when it crossed into the northbound lanes, slamming first into a power pole and then a tree. The power lines were arcing when emergency crews arrived, creating a hazard for rescuers.
A vigil was held on Dec. 29 to honor the three student athletes who passed too soon.
