Dublin Unified Reaches New Agreement with Teachers Association

The Dublin Unified School District and the Dublin Teachers Association (DTA) have reached an agreement on a new collective bargaining contract through the 2017-18 school year.

The new agreement, which includes a significant compensation increase for all 537 certificated teachers in Dublin Unified, was ratified by Dublin teachers in December and was approved by the Board of Trustees at the January 12, 2016 meeting.

“The district is very pleased to have reached an agreement with the Dublin Teachers Association, an effort that represents a lot of hard work on the part of the district and association teams,” said Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hanke. “We believe the salary increases for our teachers are much deserved and reflect the vital role our teachers play in providing the students of Dublin with an outstanding education.”

Key points of the new agreement with the teachers include:

• A 3 % on-going salary increase

• A 2 % one-time salary increase for 2015-16

• Agreement on an adjustment to the school-year calendar with the first day of instruction for the 2016-17 school year on August 15, 2016 and the last day on June 2, 2017. The full school-year calendar, including holiday breaks for 2016-17, will been released very shortly, pending final approval of the bargaining parties.

As result of the agreement with DTA, comparable salary increases will also be applied to members of the district’s classified employees association (CSEA), and district management employees.

“I want to thank DTA leadership for the time and effort invested in this process,” said Mark McCoy, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. “The end product is one that meets the needs and shared interests of the district and the association, and by extension, the children we serve.”
