Residents are invited to the Dublin City Hall tomorrow night as to watch David Haubert is sworn in as the next mayor. The community will also say goodbye to longtime Mayor Tim Sbranti.

City of Dublin spokesperson Lori Taylor said, “Council meeting starts at 5:00 (earlier than our regular meeting time of 7:00 p.m.) After the business is done, then the election results will be certified and the outgoing mayor will have a plaque presented, followed by the swearing in of new council. The meeting will be followed by a reception with refreshments in the Regional Meeting Room at City Hall and members of the public are invited to attend.”

Sbranti, who termed out this year, says he is incredibly proud of his time on the council.

“I am proud of being able to be a part of completing so many successful capital projects including the library, the Dublin Senior Center, the Dublin Heritage Center, the Shannon Community Center, the Fallon Sports Park, the Public Safety Complex and the maintenance yard ... being able to be a part of so many of those projects that are going to serve Dublin for generations to come. Taking over during one of the worst economic crisis in the recession in 2008 and now being able to leave the city with a three year surplus, including 13 million this past year, that is something I am really proud of.

“I am proud that we dealt with the long-term financial pension obligations, leaving the city in strong financial shape and that our focus on economic development lead to 2 million square feet in commercial growth. We have award-winning streets in terms of quality— some of the best in the entire Bay Area.”

Sbranti also lists the Emerald Vista housing development, the Camp Parks land exchange and joint projects with the school district, such as the Dublin High Performing Arts Center, as recent accomplishments he was proud to have a hand in.

In the November election, Dublin councilmember Haubert beat out three other candidates vying for the mayoral seat.

“I’m thrilled that voters chose me as their next Mayor,” Haubert said. “Dublin is already a well-run city. Working together with our staff and the entire city council, I’m confident Dublin has a bright future ahead. I’d also like to take the time to thank Mayor Tim Sbranti for his years of service to our community. I know I have big shoes to fill.”

Haubert’s wife, Michele Haubert, told Patch, “We are so proud and excited for Dave. He is passionate about our city and I know that he’ll work hard to represent Dublin as our next Mayor.”
