DUBLIN, CA — If you start feeling the holiday cheer too much, don’t get behind the wheel. Dublin Police Services announced that it will hold a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint Friday, Dec. 15 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at an undisclosed location in the city.

DPS also plans to have increased officers on patrol the following day from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Checkpoints and patrols will be done in areas with a history of DUI-related collisions and arrests.

Drivers are reminded that impaired driving can also result from medications that provide an “operating heavy machinery” warning on the label.

Anyone who intends to drink should have a plan for getting home safely that does not involve driving. A DUI is a misdemeanor charge that can result in thousands in fines, a suspended license, and possible jail time.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Captain Gurvinder Gosal. “Any preventative measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
