Dublin Financial Literacy is just one chapter, a part of the entire establishment called Tri-Valley
Financial Literacy and Leadership Initiative. Dublin Financial literacy was established in 2019,
with the two Co-Founders Luke Wu and Logan Lin from Dublin High School.
The Dublin Financial Literacy project aims to educate the rising generation of students with a
better understanding of personal finance through presentations and workshops. The goal of
Dublin Financial Literacy was to help students gain certain knowledge regarding better money
habits. Sophomore Logan Lin helped develop the project even further by organizing investment
competitions on a virtual stock exchange using MarketWatch, so students at Dublin High could
learn about investing and decision making.

Furthermore, Logan wanted to help educate younger students about financial literacy, that is
when he reached out to the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) teacher,
Kimberly Carlson at Fallon Middle school and proposed to come in to give a presentation about
building a financial foundation. Logan Lin and Luke Wu led this presentation and taught 8th
graders about easy ways to save money, the basics of investing, debt management, and
financial security. As the students actively listened and took notes during the lecture. Logan Lin
plans to teach and give presentations to over 100 middle school students by the end of next
school year about financial literacy.
But it didn’t stop there! As we well all know Covid-19 has struck the world by storm. Schools
have closed down and students are forced to be quarantined in their houses until shelter in
place is lifted. Logan wanted to provide an online educational forum for students during these
unprecedented times. So he decided to reach out to Billionaire Venture Capitalist and founder of
Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Tim Draper and asked him if he was willing to get on a zoom call with
him to talk about investing. Surprisingly, Mr. Draper responded back and agreed to an online
webinar.
Logan was inspired to organize this event because he realized that investing can be so
essential in anyone’s life, whether or not you pursue a job in the business industry later on in
your future. Investing can help ensure present and future long-term financial security and allows
your money to grow over time. Tim Draper and Logan will be talking about Mr. Draper's
investing career as a whole, his most notable investments, basic investing strategies, risk
management, his advice for young investors and his outlook on the US economy in the next few
months.
Through a lot of marketing on social media via Instagram and Streetfins. Dublin Financial
Literacy and Rohan Gupta of Streetfins, a student-run organization dedicated to financial literacy , has been
instrumental in spreading the word to get more people involved in this project, and aware of the
webinar coming up with Mr. Draper. The Dublin Financial Literacy homepage is
@dublin_financial_literacy_club on Instagram if anyone has any questions regarding our project
or the upcoming webinar.
The event will take place May 26 at 3pm on Zoom.
