I-580 Reopens In Alameda County After Two Closures Saturday

Several lanes of Interstate 580 were closed on Saturday while police investigated a traffic crash and a bomb threat.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Police activity prompted the shutdown of Interstate 580 twice on Saturday in Castro Valley for two separate incidents.

The freeway was closed twice — once for a traffic collision in the morning and again in the afternoon to investigate a potential bomb in a car parked in the center divider.

All freeway traffic was stopped and BART trains were halted between Castro Valley, Dublin and Pleasanton, SF BART tweeted.

Traffic was being diverted to Eden Canyon Road on Saturday, the California Highway Patrol tweeted.
