'Emerald Innovation Challenge' Hackathon Taking Place Saturday
The student-led hackathon at Emerald High School is offering up to $4,000 in prizes and is open to middle and high school students.

DUBLIN, CA — A group of Emerald High School students are hosting the first-ever Emerald Innovation Challenge Hackathon on Saturday.
Students in grades 6-12 are welcome to participate in the beginner-friendly hackathon, which will challenge them to create apps, websites, or software related to the event theme. Students can work alone or in teams of up to four. Professional software engineers will serve as judges and offer feedback.
Participants will also enjoy free food, a keynote speaker, and corporate-sponsored prizes worth up to $2000.

The Emerald Innovation Challenge was organized by the Emerald Tech Club, a student-led club with over 45 members that offers students the opportunity to excel in the fields of technology and engineering through project-based learning. Students have learned to build and publish apps, build robotic arms, 3D print, dissect smartphones, and more. The club is also training students to build projects and compete in the Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair.
