"Dublin Reads" Book Discussion with Mayor Tim Sbranti

The community is invited to join Mayor Sbranti for a discussion of this year's Dublin Reads selection, Pearl of China by Anchee Min.

In the southern town of Chin-kiang, in the last days of the nineteenth century, two girls bump heads and become thick as thieves. Willow is the only child of a destitute local family. Pearl, the headstrong daughter of zealous Christian missionaries, will become Pearl S. Buck, Nobel Prize-winning writer and activist. Join us in reading the story of a friendship that will be tested during decades of great tumult, imprisonment and exile, bloody civil war and the repressive Communist regime of Mao Tse-Tung.

Meet in the Library Program Room starting at 7:00 p. Review the book and some possible discussion questions at Reading Groups Guides.
