Fireworks Cause Two Small Dumpster Fires In Dublin: ACFD
Improperly disposed fireworks caused two fires in Dublin Monday.

DUBLIN, CA — Two small dumpster and garbage fires broke out in Dublin Monday due to the improper disposal of fireworks, Alameda County Department Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Nishimito told Patch.
The disposal of legal ‘safe and sane’ fireworks resulted in two fires on Gleason Drive and Central Parkway, Nishimito said. Both fires were quickly extinguished. Details about the exact time and location of the fires are forthcoming.
No other property damages or injuries were reported in Dublin Monday, Nishimito said.

Dublin remains the only city in the Tri-Valley to permit the possession and use of state-approved ‘safe and sane’ fireworks. Their use is allowed only at single-family residences, and four local parks: Shannon Park, Dublin Sports Grounds, Alamo Creek Park, and Emerald Glen Park.
Fires from fireworks were reported all over the East Bay Monday. In Pleasanton, where any sort of fireworks are illegal, improperly extinguished fireworks resulted in a home fence catching fire.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said it responded to 160 calls related to illegal fireworks, and seized over 400 pounds of illegal fireworks.
The Contra Costa Fire Protection District said that its firefighters responded to 30 fires Monday, nine of which were confirmed to be caused by fire. The district responded to 70 total fires throughout the weekend.
Early Monday, a vegetation fire confirmed to be caused by fireworks burned 6.5 acres before it was stopped. A witness told CBS News that they saw someone setting off fireworks from a car, which started what came to be known as the ‘Driftwood Fire.’
