Sports Authority Will Move into Former Mervyn's Building

New businesses will fill vacancies in the city, including a shoe store and a sporting goods store.

The retail vacancy rate in Dublin just dropped. The city has announced that vacancies in the former Mervyn's building, The Shops at Waterford and the Dublin Retail Center on Dublin Boulevard have been filled.

According to Linda Maurer, Dublin's economic development director, the former Mervyn's Department Store building at 7117 Regional Street soon will house Sports Authority, which sells fitness apparel, footwear and team sports gear. The company is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, and operates more than 450 stores in 45 states. The lease was executed for approximately 45,000 square feet of the former Mervyn's building.

According to Maurer, DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) will move into a spot near Michaels and Marshalls in the Dublin Retail Center on Dublin Boulevard. DSW offers shoes for men and women at discount prices. DSW will take the space currently occupied by American Home Furnishings, between Marshalls and Half Price Books. According to a Half Price Books spokesperson, the bookstore store will open Feb 17.
