Fourth Grade Bee Champ Prevailed Twice In January: Dublin
Rohit Srinivasan beat out older Cottonwood Creek students in the school's spelling and geographic bees.

DUBLIN, CA — Rohit Srinivasan won two Cottonwood Creek School bees last month. And as a fourth grader, he was among the youngest competitors both times, Dublin Unified School District said.
Srinivasan took home the winning title in the spelling bee for fourth to sixth grade students after 32 tough rounds on Jan. 16. He said he studied spelling for hours.
A week later he won the school's National Geographic GeoBee for fourth to eighth graders, the district said. It was a hard-fought won, though Srinivasan said he is a geography fan.

He's long been a geography buff.
"My parents bought me a globe when I was four or five," Srinivasan told the district. "Also, when I was little, I would help my parents navigate when we went places."
On Thursday night Srinivasan will compete for the Dublin Unified School District spelling bee title alongside other elementary school students, the district said. The winner will advance to the Alameda County Spelling Bee March 7.
Srinivasan isn't the only top-notch DUSD speller. Local student Anisha Rao competed in the Washington, D.C. National Spelling Bee Finals three years in a row.
