Free Screening of "Beyond Measure" Planned in Dublin
One Dublin parent is trying to change the culture of "kids not getting enough sleep, stress, homework etc."

The film “Beyond Measure” examines the issues, “What if our education system valued personal growth over test scores? Put inquiry over mimicry? Encouraged passion over rankings? What if we decided that the higher aim of school was not the transmission of facts or formulas, but the transformation of every student?”
A free screening of the film will be offered at Dublin High School on Feb. 16, from 6 -8 pm.
Of particular concern to parent Dana Ogden is the amount of homework assigned, causing students to not get enough sleep. She has been lobbying the school board to force changes. “I realized that I wasn’t alone in my crusade and that there were many others including teachers, administration etc. that also agreed something needed to be done, but no one really knows what and how to do it,” Ogden told Patch.

Following the screening on the 16th, Ogden will “mention that I will be hosting and facilitating a committee of those that were inspired by the film and would like to start to implement a plan of action/community read. This group will basically be a committee that will be working with me to help implement a change going forward.”
All members of the community are invited to attend. Please register in advance.
