Free video consults for family caregivers with dementia questions
Hope Hospice offers free video conference consultations for family members with questions on dementia-related care of loved ones

Dublin, Calif. —Since Hope Hospice has had to temporarily suspend our Living With Dementia group classes for family caregivers in light of the region’s coronavirus response, we are launching a new video conference service that is, at this time, complimentary to the public in our Tri-Valley and adjacent East Bay service area.
Hope’s Living With Dementia group classes (usually held at our Dublin office year-round) have soared in attendance in the past 12 months, so we want to ensure we continue to meet this growing need in the community for resources and education on how to best provide care for loved ones living with dementia.
“So many of the family caregivers who attend our classes find themselves in the caregiver role unexpectedly and without resources,” says program manager Jill Smith, RN. “The face-to-face classes have helped these individuals tremendously in learning about the changes to expect in their loved one and how to adjust techniques as the disease progresses. We didn’t want to leave anyone without help at this time of uncertainty.”

Hope will be using Zoom remote-conferencing technology to conduct private consultations with family members who have questions on specific challenges they are facing in caring for a loved one living with dementia. Participants need only to have a computer or smartphone with Internet access to participate.
We are accepting appointment requests now for meetings that will begin April 15. The public can submit a meeting request to program manager Jill Smith via email at: jills@hopehospice.com. If for some reason an interested party cannot obtain Internet access or otherwise needs assistance, we will work with them via phone. In that case, they can contact Jill Smith at (925) 829-8770; but email is preferred.
