Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Dublin E-5 K-8 School and Park Site

DUBLIN, CA — A groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the E-5 K-8 School and Park site in Dublin was held on Monday morning. Members of the Dublin Unified School District Board of Trustees and the Dublin City Council gathered to celebrate the new facility.

“This is a great day for the City of Dublin,” said Dublin Unified Board President Dan Cunningham. “This is an important example of the partnership we have between the City Council and the Board of Trustees. We are breaking ground today on a brand-new facility that will provide the community a beautiful new school and a great park.”

According to district officials, the 10-acre site, located in the Jordan Ranch Development, will be home to a K-8 school site as well as city park facilities. The as-yet-unnamed school is scheduled to open to students in the fall of 2018.

Dublin Unified Superintendent Dr. Leslie Boozer also hailed the partnership between the City and the District.

“We are very grateful for the City’s collaboration on this project, which came to fruition thanks to hard work and shared commitment to the community’s best interests,” Dr. Boozer said. “This school/park site is important to our growing district as we move forward and continue to offer the students of Dublin an outstanding education in state-of-the-art facilities. We are excited for construction to begin.”

District officials say the project represents a significant partnership between the Dublin Unified School District and the City of Dublin.

“The City of Dublin and the District completed an agreement last spring, in which the City agreed to joint use of the site, previously designated as a park, with the District for use as a school,” officials said in a statement. “The City and the District also executed joint-use agreements for facilities on the site as well as other district facilities, including the Dublin High School Center for Performing Arts and Education. This type of collaboration mutually benefits the City and the District, maximizes resources, and provides great service to the residents of Dublin.”

The Ground Lease agreement in place allows the district to lease the site from the City for the amount of $1 per year for 99 years.
