High Wind Watch Issued For Dublin: NWS

DUBLIN, CA — It’s time to get out your windbreakers and your ropes: Dublin is in for a windy few days.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind watch Monday morning for Dublin and the Bay Area that will be in effect through Thursday at 10 a.m.

Winds of 20-30 miles mph are expected to develop Monday night in the Bay Area and Santa Cruz Mountains, and exceed 45 miles an hour in the higher peaks and ridge lines, according to the National Weather Service. Winds could reach up to 70 mph in the North Bay Mountains.

In Dublin, winds are expected to increase to 10-15 mph Tuesday morning, with gusts as high as 23 mph possible, NWS said. High gusts of up to 29 mph will continue through Tuesday night and into Wednesday. On Wednesday, winds of up to 32 mph are expected, before dying down that evening.

The National Weather Service said in a news release that its models predict this week’s winds will be similar to those of Jan. 21-22, which saw winds of 60 mph on Mt. Diablo, and 96 mph in the Healdsburg Hills. The storm downed trees and power lines and caused mass power outages.

PG&E said that no public safety power outages are planned due to the high winds.
