Hotel Project, New Cultural Arts Center Move Forward In Dublin
Design on a 198-room Westin Hotel was approved, and city council allocated funds for design of a new Dublin Cultural Arts Center.

DUBLIN, CA — Two large-scale development projects are still moving forward in Dublin. During Tuesday's regularly scheduled city council meeting, the design of a 198-room Westin Hotel located in the Dublin Transit Center was approved. The council also allocated funds for design work on the city's future Cultural Arts Center.
The Westin Hotel development is proposed for the north side of Altamirano Avenue, between Campus Drive and Arnold Road, near the Dublin-Pleasanton BART station. It would be situated on approximately six acres at the transit center and would include construction of a parking lot with 279 spaces. Amenities are slated to include 9,762-square feet of assembly space, a restaurant and cafe, according to city documents.
The project applicant is LN Hospitality LLC.

The Westin Hotel project requires a first and second reading of an ordinance related to zoning matters. The second reading is scheduled during the Nov. 5 city council meeting.
During Tuesday's meeting, city council also received a report on Dublin's future Cultural Arts Center to be located in the first floor of the Civic Center in the Police Services wing. Encompassing approximately 13,000 square feet, the Dublin Cultural Arts Center would accommodate dance, art music and theatre classes, according to city documents.

The current estimated cost for the Cultural Arts Center project is nearly $5.8 million, according to city documents. During Tuesday's meeting, council members approved allocating funds in the current fiscal year to pay for design services from Group 4 Architecture Research and Planning, Inc. The cost to hire the firm was $866,566.
Other actions by Dublin City Council Tuesday night:
- City council approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the city and ASVRF Acquisitions, LLC, ASVRF Dublin Place, LP, and ASVRF 6960 Amador, LP regarding Dublin Place Shopping Center, setting out the framework to help fund acquisition of a parcel in the center.
- City council received a financial report through the first quarter for Fiscal Year 2019-20, and approved a budget change, which will result in the addition of $735,000 to the General Fund budget and will allow for minor adjustments to the transportation and traffic fee budgets.
- City council amended the city’s agreement with Indigo/Hammond + Playle Architects, LLP, architects for the Public Safety Complex, to provide additional design services associated with the structural upgrades to the existing structure and design support services during construction.
- City council approved the creation of a Temporary Art Display Program. In 2020, the program, recommended by the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission, will include the purchase of 20 Adirondack chairs and the solicitation of professional artists to paint these chairs, which will be displayed in public places within the city.
