How To Beat Dublin's Extreme Heat
"Cooling" locations across the city are open and available to the public for use throughout the day.
DUBLIN, CA — With the official start of summer just around the corner, and triple-digit temperatures already baking Dublin, the city is reminding residents that citizens who may not have air conditioning at home are welcome to get relief from the heat at any community facility. "Cool center" locations across the city are open and available to the public for use throughout the day. Hours vary at each location and may be extended during heat waves where temperatures of over 95 degrees are expected for multiple days.
The following is a list of cool centers across Dublin:
Dublin Senior Center (7600 Amador Valley Boulevard)
The Dublin Senior Center features a lounge area with a television, reference computers, books, lending library and puzzle table. The Senior Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - noon. Residents may drop in, as there is no admission fee. Dublin Public Library (200 Civic Plaza)
The Dublin Public Library is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 - 5 p.m. For more information, call (925) 803-7252 or visit www.aclibrary.org.
Shannon Community Center (11600 Shannon Avenue)
Shannon Community Center is open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. On Saturdays, the facility is open from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents are welcome in the air-conditioned lobby, and are encouraged to bring their own reading materials or board games. For more information, call (925) 556-4500.

The Wave (4201 Central Parkway)
The Wave is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features two pools: an outdoor sports pool and an indoor pool. A beach-themed Splash Zone features two small slides, a drop bucket, spray nozzles, wading area, and a waterslide tower featuring six waterslides. The Wave also features lap swimming and fitness classes. The Wave waterpark is currently open daily through August 11, and then weekends August 17 - September 2. Park Water Features
Let little ones cool off at Dublin's park water features, which run throughout the day, Memorial Day through Labor Day, at Shannon Community Park (11600 Shannon Avenue) and Emerald Glen Park (Central Parkway at Tassajara Road).
