Ilene Misheloff Case Continues 35 Years After Disappearance
Dublin police are offering $95,000 for info on Ilene Misheloff, who disappeared exactly 35 years ago Tuesday while walking home.
DUBLIN, CA — On the 35th anniversary of Ilene Misheloff’s disappearance, Dublin Police Services Chief Nate Schmidt said in a video that the department “will continue to follow every tip, and will not rest, until we bring this case to a conclusion.”
Ilene Misheloff was last seen on Jan. 30, 1989, when she was 13 years old. She was last seen walking home alone at 3 p.m. on Amador Valley Boulevard near Village Parkway, according to Dublin police. Her key fob was later found near the entrance to John Mape Park, along the route she normally took walking home.
At the time of her disappearance, Ilene had braces, pierced ears, freckles on her cheeks and the bridge of her nose, and a small lump on the inside of her left ankle. She was last seen wearing a charcoal gray pullover Esprit polo sweater, a pink and charcoal gray skirt with horizontal stripes, and black low-top Keds sneakers.

For over 30 years on Jan. 30, the community held a candlelight vigil and walk to keep her memory alive and pressure police to continue investigating. The vigil was canceled indefinitely after Ilene’s mother Maddi - a pillar of the community who served on the Dublin San Ramon Services District Board of Directors, and helped organize the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Dublin Pride Week, among other activities - passed away in April 2020 following a two-year battle with bladder cancer.
Ilene’s parents never gave up hope that their daughter would return. They hosted fundraisers, gave TV interviews, and lent their support to organizations for missing children.
Police are offering a $95,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dublin Police Services at 925-833-6670.
