Interfaith Prayer Vigil for Victims of Gun Violence
Interfaith Prayer Vigil for Victims for Gun Violence

The public is invited to a prayer vigil December 9 from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. in front of Lynnewood United Methodist Church, 4444 Black Avenue, Pleasanton (across from the Aquatic Center). The event is sponsored by the Livermore-Pleasanton Interfaith Clergy Association as a way for individuals to show solidarity with the families of victims of gun tragedies in our nation.
On December 9th, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. will host a national vigil. At over one hundred-sixty locations around the country, people of all races and religions will gather to mourn the loss of lives by gun violence. The Pleasanton vigil, also on December 9, will provide an opportunity for people in this area to participate. December 14 is the third anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The vigil is in memory of this, the shooting in San Bernardino on Wednesday, Paris, and so many others.
Citizens and people of all faiths may find a need to mourn the loss of lives and stand together against gun violence. The Rev. Heather Leslie Hammer will offer prayer, and the community will be invited to light candles. Parking is available behind the church and on the street.
