The women and children who come to Shepherd’s Gate are seeking to start a new life. They are able shop for free at the thrift store for clothes for job interviews and school as well as items to furnish a new place to live after graduation. Proceeds from the thrift store directly support the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate by providing care, safety, education and encouragement as they rebuild their lives. Grainbakers Baking School

Grainbakers offers one-of-a-kind whole-grain breadmaking classes and soft pretzel-making workshops. We are honored to be in a guest residency at Pans on Fire, the beloved Pleasanton cooking school. We are also well known for wholesome staff team builders hosted right at your office. Spent grain and brewer's barley are healthy whole grains recycled from the brewing process. Our 90-minute workshops are hosted at some of the country's best breweries, and they often sell out fast. Classes blend fun, relaxation, and the pride of saying "I made that." Whether you are brand new to breadmaking or a seasoned sourdough pro craving a fresh twist, you are welcome here. We especially love showing homebrewers how to transform that beautiful spent grain and brewer's barley into something extraordinary. Every workshop pairs you with friendly Teaching Assistants who guide you through mixing, shaping, and prepping your dough. You leave with oven-ready dough to bake fresh at home, plus recipes and tips to keep the magic going in your own kitchen. The aromas, the laughter, and the brewery atmosphere all add up to a night you will remember. This is a fun night out that is also an affordable night out. Most cooking classes are very expensive, and many paint-and-sip or craft classes burn through supplies, create a pile of trash, and still come with a hefty price tag. The Pleasanton Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is inviting the community to attend the 20th annual performance of its Youth Choir and Bell Choir at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Pleasanton Stake Center, 6100 Paseo Santa Cruz in Pleasanton. The concert will feature youth from Amador, Foothill and Dublin High Schools. A special string quartet from Hart Middle School will also perform. The youth will testify of Christ through word and music. The event is free to the public and refreshments will be served.
