Local Art Joins the Menu at Dublin’s Bagel Street Cafe

Bagel Street Cafe has been serving fresh bagels, breakfasts and lunches to Dublin residents for more than two decades. Now, visitors can enjoy another local offering alongside their morning coffee: original artwork created by artists from the community.

The Dublin Arts Collective has welcomed Bagel Street Cafe as the newest partner in the DAC Art Circuit, a rotating exhibition program that brings local artwork into businesses and public spaces throughout Dublin.

A 2011 Dublin Patch article took readers “behind the doors” of the café, where the lights came on at 4 a.m. and as many as 100 dozen bagels could be served on a busy day. The article described Bagel Street Cafe as a family business that began in Alamo in 1996, with the Dublin location opening in 2004 near the Safeway on Tassajara Boulevard.

Fifteen years later, the café’s story has gained a colorful new chapter.

The inaugural DAC exhibition features original artwork by four local artists:

The artwork was installed by DAC Art Circuit Chair Marc Casad. The display will rotate approximately every four months, providing future opportunities for additional artists while keeping the café’s walls fresh and engaging for returning customers.

Bagel Street Cafe joins KeyPoint Credit Union, Dublin Library and the Dublin San Ramon Services District as a DAC Art Circuit location. Together, these community partners provide artists with opportunities to exhibit their work in spaces where residents conduct business, access public services, gather with others and enjoy everyday life.

The DAC Art Circuit is designed to make art part of the community’s daily experience. By displaying original work in familiar and welcoming settings, the program introduces artists to new audiences and allows residents to encounter art while dining, banking, visiting the library or connecting with local services.

These partnerships also provide artists with valuable visibility beyond traditional galleries. Visitors can learn more about the featured artists through the accompanying display labels and make inquiries about available artwork.

For Bagel Street Cafe, the partnership adds another locally made element to a business already rooted in family and community. For DAC, it represents an opportunity to expand the Art Circuit within Dublin and strengthen connections among artists, businesses and residents.

Sometimes supporting local art can be as simple—and as enjoyable—as looking up from your breakfast.
