Make Today a Park Day in Dublin!

Emerald Glen Park is a fun place to take the kids and enjoy the wonderful Dublin scenery before the weather gets too cold.

With only a few more weeks of nice outdoor weather why not take advantage of Dublin's great city parks?  One of my personal favorites is Emerald Glen Park.  It has so much to offer kids of all ages.

My 3-year-old son loves the sand pit at this park.  It has a pretend (obviously) dinosaur skeleton buried in the sand pit!  This is a lot of fun for the kids and really taps into their curiosity, love of playing in the sand and their imagination.  Everyone is always willing to share their sand toys, too – so don't worry if you forget yours.

When the weather permits, the large water feature can entertain kids for hours.  There are multiple play structures and ample seating around for parents to sit, talk and watch their kids explore.  A huge plus for a mom who is currently potty training her 3 year old is the onsite restrooms – oh so important!  Other amenities Emerald Glen has to offer include:

  • baseball, softball, soccer and cricket fields
  • grass fields (which means plenty of room for kids to run!)
  • a lighted skateboard park
  • lighted tennis and basketball courts
  • small picnic area
  • a rose garden

Currently the park is 40 acres, but there are plans for it to eventually be 48.2 acres and include a recreation, community, and aquatic center – I can't wait!

There is a large grassy area where people often fly kites on a windy day.  And, since this is Dublin, we know windy days are often! So, whatever outdoor activity interests you Emerald Glen Park covers all the bases!  Round up your kids, pack a picnic lunch and go outside and play while you still can before the rain comes pouring down.

Emerald Glen Park is located at 4201 Central Parkway near Tassajara.

Maintaining her motherly sanity,

Sarah Karatov
