Body Found In Yreka ID'd As Missing Dublin Man

Russel George Tomasich​, 57, was reported missing Sept. 10 after he failed to show up for work.

DUBLIN, CA — A 57-year-old Dublin man who was reported missing last week has been found dead in Yreka.

Russel George Tomasich's body was found in the 7000 block of Hawkinsville Humbug Road on Sept. 15 at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to the Yreka Police Department.

His family had reported him missing to Dublin and Alameda County authorities on Sept. 10 after he didn't show up for work.

On the morning of Sept. 11, Tomasich's vacant vehicle was found in the 100 block of Humbug Rd. in Yreka. Witnesses reported seeing him enter a nearby wooded area with a large backpack on the afternoon of Sept. 9, and he appeared to be headed out for a hike, according to Yreka police.

Tomasich did not seem to be in distress at that time, however his family was very concerned due to the fact he suffered from mental illness and a prior traumatic brain injury, Yreka police reported.

Tomasich had been known to hike off into the wilderness on previous occasions. His cause of death is pending autopsy results.
