Murray Elementary School Opens With Extensive Renovations
The aging elementary school revamped its classrooms and added new staff rooms and offices. More renovations are scheduled.
DUBLIN, CA — Students at Dublin’s Murray Elementary School entered a school with many renovations, and more are soon to come.
The 55-year-old school completed the first of a three-phase, $57.5 million renovation, funded by Measure C and H. The school started the 2022-23 school year with 47,000 square feet of new facilities, including 32 new K-5 classrooms, four new offices, and five new staff workrooms.
The new classrooms feature daylight harvesting windows, dimmable lighting, skylights, high-efficiency all-electric heat pump HVAC units, low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) wood finishes, and exterior sun shades over the windows. New classroom buildings include a teacher collaboration space, staff and student restrooms, a custodial closet, and a room for speech therapy, counseling and more.

The next phase, scheduled to finish in May 2024, will include the construction of a new administration building, a multipurpose building with a kitchen, and an outdoor stage area. Phase 3 will involve the demolition of the existing classroom building and the construction of playgrounds at that location. The completion date is still being determined, but should be around 2025.
The renovations are designed to accommodate the 900 students projected to attend the school by 2025.
