New Grocery Store "Sprouts Up" in Dublin

Sprouts Farmers Market held a grand opening Wednesday.

If the line outside of Sprouts Farmers Market early Wednesday morning is any indication, the newest grocery store in town is already a hit.

More than 200 customers lined up before 7 a.m. to help celebrate the grand opening and get a look at what the store has to offer.

San Ramon resident Maggie Wulff arrived at 5:20 a.m. and was first in line.

"I'm excited about the new store and wanted to be toward the front of the line," said Wulff.

The store, located in the former Circuit City building, gave a coupon booklet for 10 free sandwiches to the first 500 customers who made a purchase. Free reusable bags were also passed out.

Dublin resident Wendy Friesner arrived at 5:40 a.m. to wait in line. She said she was anxious to see the low prices the store has been advertising.

"I've been excited since I first heard about this," said Friesner.

Many customers weren't disappointed by sales such as 77 cents for a container of strawberries, $1 for hummus and $1 for bread.

Dublin resident Kelli Raasch stood in line at 5:30 a.m. and said she was looking forward to checking out the bulk foods section of the store.

In addition to the wide selection of bulk foods, the store features grocery products, produce, meat, seafood and vitamins. A deli section offers made-to-order sandwiches that start at $3.99.

Spokesperson Janet Little said she was pleased with the turnout so early in the morning.

"We had a great crowd out there and really gracious people," said Little.

Sprouts Farmers Market is located at 7153 Amador Plaza Road and is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
